Here is a snow table I use. It may look weird, but it really helps tell were it is snowing, and where its not. Usually snow begins to fall around the 7 dBZ range. the values below that generally tell you that the snow may be falling, but not hitting the ground. Snow Table

Nice table, I tested it out and it shows snow bands very well.. I just started working on a new one but it's only half finished, been tweaking it these last few snow storms to display snow bands easily.. Here is half the color table below.. Units: DBZ Step: 5

Hey Derek, if you're interested in trying (since I know you run AE) you might want to tinker with some transparencies below say 20-25 dBz. You'd still see the snow bands, semi-transparent, but the the heavy bands will stick out like sore thumbs.

Yes, that it does-show snow bands very well. working pretty good right now, snowing like a mofo here I'll test yours out here next. Oh yeah, that image I posted is of GR2AE...KGRR has did something with their radar for winter or something, so it resembles the resolution of GR3...making me mad! EDIT: also re-did my snowband color table...this should make the bands a little more distinct. Snow Table

You'd still see the snow bands, semi-transparent, but the the heavy bands will stick out like sore thumbs. In a snow event i would not make transparency last until 20-25. After talking with many of people heavy snow is normally around 30 dBZ. 20dBZ it is really still snowing decent as well as 15 dBZ is fairly decent. But lower than that maybe some light transparency...but then again i also use no transparency...all my tables for winter use go -30 to 60....all my rain/storm tables go from -30 to 95 with no transparency. But it also boils down to the snow itself as to its Z factor...like wet hail and dry hail have different Z factors, so would snow just much lower values of course. And BCHurricane, I would consider taking your table to a higher value believe it or not...i had some snow that was enhanced by convection and it got to around 45 dBZ this year. But very nice job on that table...It is something i will be using now most likely...maybe i can try and make it more wintry in color for some of you others out there but using the same steps and values. Hope some of this ramble might have been useful

Ok, I messed around with transparencies, and didn't like the look of it, but I did update the snowband table, and I think its better now. Max dBZ is now 48, which should be plenty for 99% of snow storms. Here is the updated table, along with a screen shot of the new table in use, and there is a 41.5 dBZ echo on it! Snow Table
